The Obduction Kickstarter's current tally is at $1,103,458 with less than three days to go before it concludes on Saturday, 16th November at 2:06p.m. Additionally, backers can donate $45 and receive a digital soundtrack and art book too. Obduction isn't due until mid-late 2015 on PC and Mac, but Cyan fans can essentially pre-order it now by pledging $25, which also grants access to backer-exclusive forums where fans can interact with the developer to give feedback. It's as bare-bones a premise as you can get, but as was the case with Myst, discovering what's going on is half the fun. Like Myst, Obduction will place the player in the role of a silent protagonist who's whisked away to an unknown land for no apparent rhyme or reason. At present, the team only has the core gameplay experience and some early renderings to entice donors but thus far, they've generated close to $700,000 with 14 days to go. The company is hoping their reputation will be enough to help generate the $1.1 million funding goal they've placed on the project. Obduction is now available on the PlayStation®Store on PS4 with PS VR update coming soon. That's pretty much where the similarities will end, however, as the game is completely new from the ground up with a new story and new puzzles to solve. Just as the original did, Obduction will put players in a strange world where they will need to pay close attention to their surroundings as they solve puzzles to move the story along. Instead, Obduction took on life as a new world from a blank sheet of paper. Rand Miller said, he was simply overwhelmed once he started thinking about the history of the franchise. Obduction started life as a reboot of the Myst franchise but as co-founder and CEO of Cyan, Inc.
